Kathleen Burgess is a Toronto-based director and photographer passionate about exploring the dimensions of friendship, play, and queerness through a surreal lens.
She is a recent grad of Toronto Metropolitan University's RTA Media Production program in which she was a part of many arts publication and performance groups, including HUES, Kaleidoscope, and the Toronto Met Theatre Company.
They are now excited to be 1 out of 20 Canadian creators selected to take part in Year Three of the Canon FUTURES program, run by industry-leading talent.
Kathleen’s thesis film Dandelion Green has screened across Canada and internationally, winning the Audience Choice Award at the 2023 Vancouver Short Film Festival. Her short documentary Funny Business was also an official selection of the indiefilmTO Festival in 2021.
Beyond their personal projects, Kathleen has experience production coordinating in the realms of animation, music videos, commercials, and documentary. Brands Kathleen has helped produce content for include Nike, Toronto Metropolitan University, Paramount+, and Amazon Prime.
